Don’t wake me up, I must be dreaming, I thought, but it really did happen. I was up on stage getting my haircut by a hair architect who travels around the country and does hair shows. I answered a Craigslist ad looking for hair models for a hair style convention. The ad said I would get a free haircut plus $100 worth of hair products if I would agree to let the stylist demonstrate his latest techniques.
I had been growing out my hair, and it was almost to my waist. Every time I thought about getting it cut, I would chicken out. I had grown it out for so long, I worried about separation anxiety. But, I was tired of the long style, and wanted something short. I knew I could trust the stylist to give me the haircut of his life. If I didn’t look good, he would look bad. The stylist would cut some of hair, and ask the audience where and how much more to take off. I felt like I was getting a haircut by consensus. After he was done, the audience came up and took pictures of my hair. I really did feel like I was on the red carpet! It turned out that stylist really knew his art, and I got the cutest summer hair cut!
